Appearance: Pours a nice mahogany. Thick, fluffy light brown head that stays and leaves wonderful lacing behind.
Smell: Sweet, rich caramel and chocolate. Some nutty, roasted scents as well.
Initial Taste: As sweet as the smell with a warm, toasted marshmellow flavor followed by the chocolate and caramel malts. Sort of like a S’more followed by a malted milk ball.
Thoughts: As I mostly like sweet beers, this one doesn’t disappoint at all. However, that’s not to say this one is overly sweet or heavy. If you like malty brews with little hop presence, then you’ll like this one. Pair it with some fine chocolates and fruit to make a nice Holiday treat.

Appearance: Nice light mahogany color with thick two finger white head. Head lasts almost entire beer but lacing isn’t that great. Very good looking beer!
Smell: Sweet malts with a little hops and grain added in for good measure. Smells a lot like other beers in the marzen style. A nice clean smell that is quite appealing.
Initial Taste: Not too bad. Very smooth sweetness of malts matched very well with a spicy hoppiness. Very little bitterness in this beer but JUST enough to balance out the sweetness of the malts that make up the core of this marzen. The flavor is sweet but light enough to keep on drinking. Aftertaste is a subtle lingering sweetness.
Thoughts: What a surprising beer. I didn’t have much hope for this beer when before I first tried it. Being made by Michelob I just assumed it would be like the rest of the American watered down brews like Budweiser and Miller…but boy was I wrong. This beer is one of the smoothest beers I’ve ever had the opportunity to drink. Michelob has done a great job in making a smooth, highly drinkable, German Marzen beer that does not fail to deliver. There are other Marzen beers that represent this style a little better…but none as easy to drink. Definitely my favorite beer from the Michelob lineup. Highly recommend.

Appearance: Pours a beautiful golden honey. Looks just like what you would expect a honey beer to look like. Nice white head with decent lacing.
Smell: Almost strictly honey scented. There is not mistaking this beer for anything else. I could not pick up any other scents other than a very little hops.
Initial Taste: Honey! There is not much else to say except the honey flavor overwhelms the beer. Due to the crazy amount of honey flavoring in this beer not many other flavors can make themselves apparent.
Thoughts: I’ve always been a fan of honey beers. I enjoy the Full Moon honey and have been known on occasion to drink HoneyBrown when the mood strikes me. But I just can’t seem to get any enjoyment from this particular honey infused concoction. It feels as though Michelob tried too hard to make this beer a honey beer and ended up making it taste artificial and overly sweet. If they could restrain themselves a bit and lighten up on the honey flavorings…they may have a drinkable beer. But until then I suggest you stick with the other honey offerings out there in beerland.
