Head receded leaving behind some very nice lacing. S: Lots to take in with the smell on this one. This is a spiced ale so right off the bat you can smell the spices that make this beer so special: cloves, cinnamon, allspice. Not to mention a nice sweetness from the malts. T: Beer tasted pretty much exactly how it smelled. Terrific! All the spices are accounted for; hops, cloves, nutmeg, allspice. Finishes with a deep malt sweetness that leaves you begging for another drink. All in all this is my favorite offering from Sam Adams. WHY they only release this once a year and only in the mix pack i don't know. They really need to let this beer stand on it's own.
